How To Build A Landing Page That Converts

Learn the tips and tricks on making an effective landing page!

Creating a landing page, otherwise known as a squeeze page for your site is crucial in the world of Internet marketing, but you have to spend adequate time on the details before moving forward to generate the best possible results.

A squeeze page is not going to create itself!

You have to figure out what the market is looking for and give it to them on a platter. This is the only way to see real leads that are going to last for a long time.

Here are the four tips you should know as you are going ahead to build a great squeeze page that will convert in the long-term.

1) Offer Less

You want to offer less. This goes against the grain for most people, but it works like a charm and here is why.

The reason it works is people are more likely to go for something smaller in size. If you were to put a large course to a small seminar, you would see the seminar will convert better. People like getting their information in shorter bursts because it doesn’t take half the day to go through.

If you have a large course to offer, you should break it up into smaller parts they receive over time. This will add a lot of value to their experience as well.

2) Remain Clear And Concise

You want to stay clear and concise throughout. There is nothing worse than putting a clutter in front of them and hoping they convert. They are going to look at the dirty squeeze page and realise it is not worth it for them to spend a second longer reading through what’s present.

Keep it simple. You want to make it, so they know what they’re getting and how to sign up.

It should be straightforward to the point anyone could fill it out and move forward.

3) Don’t Ask For Random Information

You don’t need to go ahead and ask for information that is of minimal use. For example, you don’t have to go ahead and ask for their favourite colour. It doesn’t make sense and will not help convert them into a lead. You want to focus on removing random questions.

Why should you remove them?

While the extra information doesn’t hurt, it will lead to a person not wanting to fill out a form because its “boring” or “too long” and that’s the last thing you require. Emphasise getting the conversion as that’s most important. Once you have them in hand, you can start to play around with extra questions through emails (if necessary).

4) Use Honest Testimonials

Testimonials are an excellent idea for those who have an established list and have been selling for years. It can be a great way to differentiate yourself and showcase the business as a reliable option. Too many people assume testimonials are overkill, and they can be if improperly placed, but a few can help.

The goal should be to convince people others are buying what is being sold or are signing up too. This is the power of great testimonials.

A great squeeze page will take time as you play around with the features. The one thing you want to do is continue to test different changes. Collect data and make sure you are testing landing pages against one another to see what works and what does not.

Too many times you end up running one page and hoping that works. It might, but you are gambling with your setup, and that’s not worth it. Instead, you want to focus on collecting data and seeing what people are responding to. Sometimes, it’s the simple things that work well.

  1. Hello Ken
Good outline on why a marketer should have a landing page but for the newbie marketer who has limited knowledge would it not be better to have this done for them by a professional web designer?
I only say this because there seems to be a lot of work involved getting the ‘Techie’ side of it done.
One of those tasks you mention would be setting up an optin form so that they can build up a list of subscribers.
How do they actually do this?
Are there lessons or training they can access?
I see you give a link to Wealthy Affiliate.
Will they get relevant training there?
I look forward to your reply.
    Regards
    Robert Allan

  2. Thank you for the information. I am gong to try the points you have brought forward. I agree with you more about writing more information. People nowadays do not want to read long article.

Its fun know that people do not even want to read long paragraphs.

About testimonies, I also I agree with you. Putting testimonies on your landing page will show your visitor that the program works. How ever testimonies must be real or you risk being dismissed as scam that is if they are too good to be true.

    • Hey there Jonathan, glad my information was beneficial to you.

Long paragraphs usually just bore readers out so keep it short and concise and add a bit of fun into it 😉

Good luck on creating your landing page!

      Ken
